A pan is one of the most important tools we have in the kitchen. Often, pans get burned when we are cooking food at high temperatures or when food sticks to the surface of the pan for too long.
This can be a big problem because burnt spots not only make the pan look dirty, but they can also affect the quality of the food. Moreover, cleaning them often requires extra effort and special techniques.
But don’t worry! There are several methods you can try to restore the shine of your favorite pans without having to spend a lot of energy or expensive cleaning tools. Here, ResepKoki shares a tried and tested method to clean burnt pans.

1. Clean with Baking Soda
Baking soda is the main choice for cleaning burnt pots or pans, because it has mild abrasive properties and alkaline pH content can help remove burnt food residue and stubborn stains because it is acidic.
Baking soda can also be mixed with vinegar or lemon juice to help loosen burnt food to make it easier to clean from the pan. Here are some simple steps you can take to clean burnt stains on the inside of the pan:
- Sprinkle the bottom of the burnt pan with 4 tablespoons of baking soda, then add a little water, until it forms a paste.
- Heat until boiling
- Remove the pan and let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Rinse the pan and gently scrub away any burnt residue with a sponge or pan brush.
You can also use a paste of baking soda and water to remove burnt spots on the outside bottom of the pan.
2. Clean with Lemon
Apart from using baking soda, you can also use lemon to clean burnt pans. oh! Lemons are acidic and antibacterial, so they can help remove burnt stains from pans. This citrus fruit can also leave a refreshing citrus scent.
The method is quite easy, you only need to cut 2-3 lemons into four parts. Use more or less lemons, depending on the size of the pan, of!
Then put the lemons in a pot of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, then let the water and lemons simmer for at least 10 minutes.

3. Mixture of Boiling Water and Dishwashing Soap
A mixture of boiling water and dish soap is an easy technique for cleaning burnt-on food from pans. The increased temperature can help loosen the burnt-on food from the bottom of the pan.
The method is simply to place the pan on the stove and turn on the heat. When the pan is hot, pour in water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Let the water soak in and heat until it boils. Once done, discard the soapy water mixture and use a sponge to scrub the burnt spots on the pan.
4. Use Salt
Not only as a kitchen spice, garam can also be used to clean burnt pans. Salt has mild abrasive properties that effectively remove burnt crust without damaging the surface of the pan.
In addition, salt also has natural antibacterial properties that help clean the pan more hygienically. The method is quite simple:
- Sprinkle coarse salt over the burnt parts of the pan.
- Add a little water to make a salt paste.
- Use a sponge or brush to gently scrub the area.
- Rinse with clean water and wash as usual.
Be sure not to use salt on non-stick pots or pans, as it can damage the coating.

5. Cleanse with Carbonated Drinks
If you have a can or two of carbonated drink lying around, you can use it to clean your burnt pans. The carbonic acid and sugar in carbonated drinks can help soften the burnt crust and make it easier to clean.
However, be sure to use this method with caution on pans with a special or non-stick coating, of! To clean a burnt pan with carbonated drinks, you can follow these steps:
- Pour the entire contents of the carbonated drink into the burnt pan. Make sure the soda covers all the burnt parts.
- Heat the pot on the stove over medium heat until the soda comes to a boil. The steam and bubbles of the soda will help loosen the burnt crust.
- Once it boils, turn off the stove and let the pan cool for a while. Let the soda work to soften the crust for a few moments.
- Once the pan has cooled, use a sponge or soft brush to scrub the burnt areas. Then, rinse the pan with clean water.

Tips for Cleaning the Bottom of a Burnt Pot
In addition to the inside of the pan, another area that often gets stubborn stains is the bottom of the pot or pan, which comes into direct contact with the stove when cooking. Often, these stains will turn black, brown, or crusty and are difficult to remove with just soap and water.
To clean the bottom of a burnt pan, make a paste of baking soda and water, as described above, then scrub the bottom of the pan with the mixture.
If the burnt-on crust is particularly stubborn, you can try soaking the bottom of the pan in a mixture of vinegar and baking soda before scrubbing it with a sponge.
